Kingcombe Travelling Show

  Show Development

I received a bursary from Quest Southwest supported by Activate to develop a creative relationship with the Dorset Wildlife Trust at Kingcombe Wildlife Reserve. Dorset Wildlife Trust is the largest conservation charity in Dorset. They collectively manage over 42 nature reserves as part of our commitment to ensure there is a secure future for Dorset’s nature, its distinctive wildlife and natural spaces.   I spent  four months researching Kingcombe and Powerstock reserves and the history surrounding the area.

After much consultation we created a proposal for an outdoor performance. Its aim; to engage and encourage new visitors to the reserves and deliver information relating to key areas of Dorset wildlife in a new and innovative way.Kingcombe Travelling show was the next stage in the project,  telling the story of a show family who have been inspired by nature.  Eccentric and unconventional, they have created acts that celebrate, in the most surprising ways, the bee’s, bats and wildflowers of the countryside.

Kingcombe Travelling Show incorporates dance, puppetry and live performance. It is a warm hearted celebration of the unique wildlife found  in our countryside  and was performed at Kingcombe visitors centre  in July 2016.
